Fuel prices should be lower

It is annoying to see that fuel prices go up within hours of an announcement of increases in crude oil prices but when the prices drop it takes ages for the changes to reach the pumps.

Looking at the latest data from a high of £117.02 a barrel on 30th May the current price today is £95.10. I make that 19% lower.

I'm not suggesting fuel prices should drop by 19% - the government have a 53p per litre levy - take that into account then fuel should drop from £2.00 per litre to £1.72 - that's a big difference!
